Walking out the Word

posted Nov. 13, 2007

I will display Your word

I will display Your word

Call me out from the place I fear

And I will walk on the water of Your word

I will walk on the water of Your word

Call me out from the place I fear

Call me out and I'll walk on Your word

and I will display Your word........

I was singing this - this morning.  As I sang this, I saw that When Peter asked Jesus to "bid him to come" that he was asking Jesus to empower him, that he could come out of the place where he stood in fear and be quickened to come by the Rhema word of God.  When he walked on the water, the water itself was a symbolic sign of "water of the word" thus "standing on the word" in repentant obedience, forsaking the sin of standing in fear, and obeying the word Himself beckoning him to come, Peter knew if Jesus called him out that he would be able to acomplished that which he was being called to do.  Oh this is my prayer today, that my Lord would call each one of us out of the places in our lives that we are standing in fear.  When He calls, how can we but acomplish the "greater than these" deeds that we have been called and predestined to do!

Matt. 14:28-29 28 And Peter answered Him and said, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water." 29 So He said, "Come." And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.

Eph. 5:26-27 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

Prepare for Intercession – Look into the Laver

Robin Hubbard 2001 - posted Jan. 7, 2006

Leviticus 10:3 3And Moses said to Aaron, "This is what the LORD spoke, saying:  "By those who come near Me I must be regarded as holy;  And before all the people I must be glorified."'  So Aaron held his peace.

When you come to intercede before the Lord, you must come in reverence to Him for who He is.  He is holy and there is no sin in Him.  You must come before Him in holy fear.  We must learn to walk in the fear of the Lord.

Leviticus 10:1-11
The Profane Fire of Nadab and Abihu

The Conduct of the Priests
1 Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the LORD, which He had not commanded them. 2So fire went out from the LORD and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. 3And Moses said to Aaron, "This is what the LORD spoke, saying:
"By those who come near Me I must be regarded as holy;
And before all the people I must be glorified."'   So Aaron held his peace.

4Then Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, "Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp." 5So they went near and carried them by their tunics out of the camp, as Moses had said.
6And Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and Ithamar, his sons, "Do not uncover your heads nor tear your clothes, lest you die, and wrath come upon all the people. But let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD has kindled. 7You shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of meeting, lest you die, for the anointing oil of the LORD is upon you." And they did according to the word of Moses.

Conduct Prescribed for Priests
8 Then the LORD spoke to Aaron, saying: 9"Do not drink wine or intoxicating drink, you, nor your sons with you, when you go into the tabernacle of meeting, lest you die. It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations, 10that you may distinguish between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean, 11and that you may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD has spoken to them by the hand of Moses."

Our primary purpose is intimacy with God.

The fastest way there is through worship.

The fastest way to worship is through the laver.

The pure in heart see God—If we see God as He is and not as we think He is, worship and praise are an automatic response.

To purify hearts there needs to be less of me and more of God and we can worship in ways that please God even if they make us uncomfortable.

Abihu and Nadab  knew what God required (they were His priests and had just been consecrated to His service) but they did things their way.  They used “strange” fire, burning incense on the golden altar with common fire, it wasn’t taken from the brazen altar (representing Jesus). The time and manner of their offering was strange and self willed (so the gospel that saves the humble seals death to the presumptuous 2 Cor. 2:16)

2 Corinthians 2:16 16To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things?

Fire symbolizes the Holiness of God that consumes sin.

It purifies believers by testing their dealings and their motives

Every mans’ work will be revealed by fire 1 Cor. 3:13-15, Mal. 3:2

1 Corinthians 3:13-15 13each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. 14If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

Malachi 3:2 2"But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears?         For He is like a refiner's fire and like launderers' soap.

Are we performing our priestly duties by worshipping the way we want and praying what seems right to us or are we looking into the laver - the word of God and the Holy Spirit?

If you are presenting your offering (sacrifice of praise) at the altar and remember that your brother has something against you leave the offering and first be reconciled to your brother then come and present your offering. Matt. 5:23-24  (this definitely makes me uncomfortable I hate apologizing to people, I hate being wrong or misunderstood but humility breaks pride and proves that we see God as HE is, It gets us out of the way of our vision).  This also frees others to worship in spirit and truth as you cannot worship if there is offense.

Matthew 5:23-24  23Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

1 Timothy 2:8 8 I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;

As we examine ourselves in the laver (God’s word and Holy Spirit) and obey it proving that we believe what it says then we can perform our priestly duties—waiting on God, interceding for the people and offering up the sacrifices of praise.

The Laver

Exodus 38:8 8 He made the laver of bronze and its base of bronze, from the bronze mirrors of the serving women who assembled at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.

Exodus 30:18-20 18"You shall also make a laver of bronze, with its base also of bronze, for washing. You shall put it between the tabernacle of meeting and the altar. And you shall put water in it, 19for Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet in water from it. 20When they go into the tabernacle of meeting, or when they come near the altar to minister, to burn an offering made by fire to the LORD, they shall wash with water, lest they die.

This laver was made of mirrors.  It was filled with water for washing.  It was placed between the tabernacle of meeting and the altar.  Before we come to the Lord in intercession, we first must go the laver and see our reflection and be washed.  It’s not by chance that the laver was placed between the meeting place and the altar.  We can not approach the altar of God until we first go to the laver.  In the same way, we all have sinks and mirrors in our homes, the use is the same as the laver.  We go to the mirror, we see ourselves dirty, we wash, and then we see ourselves clean.  How can we see ourselves as God sees us without first going to the laver and allowing ourselves to see His reflection – the way He sees us.

Psalm 139:22-23 23Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties;  24And see if here is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Jeremiah 17:9-10 9"The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?       10I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.

Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary

LA'VER, n. A vessel for washing; a large basin; in scripture history, a basin placed in the court of the Jewish tabernacle, where the officiating priests washed their hands and feet and the entrails of victims.

LAVA'TION, n. [L. lavatio, from lavo.] A washing or cleansing.

LAV'ATORY, n. [See lave.]

1. A place for washing.

2. A wash or lotion for a diseased part.

3. A place where gold is obtained by washing.

Foretold:

Isaiah 61:6 6But you shall be named the priests of the LORD, They shall call you the servants of our God.  You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, And in their glory you shall boast.

Royal Priesthood Proclaimed:

1 Peter 2:9-10 9But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

All Believers:

Revelation 1:5-6 5and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.  To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, 6and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

The priests made intercession.  In the word of God, we are called kings and priests.  As far as I can see, the duties of the priest have not changed.  We are all called as kings and priests to make intercession before the Lord.  We are all called to intercession.  It’s not a gift, it’s what God has said we are; we are all priests.

Titus 3:4-7 4But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Ephesians 5:25-27
25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

We need to be washed and regenerated and renewed daily by the the power of the Holy Spirit and the washing of the word of God.

James 1:23-25 23For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

2 Corinthians 3:18 18But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

1 Corinthians 13:12 12For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

The Watchman (Intercessor)

Isaiah 62:6-7 6I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night.  You who make mention of the LORD, do not keep silent,  7And give Him no rest till He establishes And till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

God Looks for an Intercessor:

Ezekiel 22:30 30So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.

We are the Pillars in the temple of our God holding up burdens to the Lord.  Pillars are made for holding burdens.  We are the pillars – we who overcome.

Revelation 3:12 12He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.

Swim in the Depths of the Spirit

12/13/05   Robin Hubbard

So often find myself struggling and catch myself doing it.  It wears me out.  I feel like a fish that has been caught flopping around on dry land.  Why?  We were meant to swim in the depths of the Lord..................  His weight carries us, not our own.  It's a weighty thing to live in the world.

Just as the "atmospheric pressure" is so much different from air to water in weight.  The Spirit is a heavy thing yet because He carries you in His flow it feels light.  It is light because the Spirit carries the weight and you do not.  Just as water carries you and you move through it, so is the way of the Spirit.

Living in the natural is completely opposite.  The natural realm feels so light, yet all the load is on you.  You carry everything in the natural realm.

Oh that we would consider the depths of the Spirit and dive into the intimacy of the Lord!

Oh that we would be invaded by Your thoughts oh God that are countless towards us.

That we would see that You desire to carry the load for us!

Psalm 139:17-18 17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.

Isaiah 55:8-9 8 “ For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. 9 “ For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Matthew 11:29-31 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

The Intimate Chamber of the Lord
9/12/05 Robin Hubbard
The Intimate Chamber of the Lord - Yes!  I've been to this place before.. Oh and how peaceful a place it is.  A place of no fear and impeccable wisdom flows from it's walls.  Calming streams of love flow from it's adornments.  Sweet minstrels breathe love into our being from the lips of the Gracious One in whom we have believed. Oh the silence is lovely here.  The breath of my Beloved on my shoulder - His touch penetrates my being.  His face I long to see and the eyes of all my desire do look for Him.  The beauty of the Most High in all of His splendor, whereas nothing can compare to the depth of His gaze.  A place for love - a place in my heart made only for Him. Oh come away with Me my love, My fair one.

Song of Solomon 2:9-11 9 My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Behold, he stands behind our wall; He is looking through the windows, Gazing through the lattice. 10 My beloved spoke, and said to me: “ Rise up, my love, my fair one, And come away.
11 For lo, the winter is past, The rain is over and gone.

Revelations of Our Idolatry to Have More Than We Need
Robin Hubbard 8/16/05

Psalm 68:6 6 God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

I understand that this scripture is saying that the Lord will bring those who are bound out and bring them into prosperity, however..... in my prayers yesterday, I read this scripture that they were bound to prosperity.
I truly believe that the Lord wanted to direct my prayers to those who were bound to (prospering itself, in things, collecting, wanting to prosper in temporal things rather than eternal things).  The Lord says He will bring them out.

3 John 1:2 2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

Mark 6:8 8 He commanded them to take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bag, no bread, no copper in their money belts—

Luke 9:3 3 And He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece.

Proverbs 30:14-16 14 There is a generation whose teeth are like swords, And whose fangs are like knives, To devour the poor from off the earth,  And the needy from among men. 15 The leech has two daughters— Give and Give!
There are three things that are never satisfied,  Four never say, “Enough!”: 16 The grave, The barren womb, The earth that is not satisfied with water— And the fire never says, “Enough!”

Spiritual death produces carnal mind, an unsatisfied hunger for more temporal things to fill the void
The individual who has not yet given birth / the revelation that God has planted in them has been aborted or miscarried
Lack of the water of the word produces a drought that will never be satisfied without the right element
The fire of a lustful heart will never be satisfied without the passion of our God enveloping & permeating it's expanse.

Idols and the True God:

Jeremiah 10:1-16    1 Hear the word which the LORD speaks to you, O house of Israel. 2 Thus says the LORD: “ Do not learn the way of the Gentiles; Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, For the Gentiles are dismayed at them. 3 For the customs of the peoples are futile;  For one cuts a tree from the forest, The work of the hands of the workman, with the ax. 4 They decorate it with silver and gold; They fasten it with nails and hammers So that it will not topple. 5 They are upright, like a palm tree, And they cannot speak; They must be carried, Because they cannot go by themselves. Do not be afraid of them, For they cannot do evil, Nor can they do any good.” 6 Inasmuch as there is none like You, O LORD (You are great, and Your name is great in might),  7 Who would not fear You, O King of the nations? For this is Your rightful due. For among all the wise men of the nations, And in all their kingdoms, There is none like You. 8 But they are altogether dull-hearted and foolish; A wooden idol is a worthless doctrine. 9 Silver is beaten into plates; It is brought from Tarshish, And gold from Uphaz, The work of the craftsman And of the hands of the metalsmith; Blue and purple are their clothing; They are all the work of skillful men.
10 But the LORD is the true God; He is the living God and the everlasting King.  At His wrath the earth will tremble,  And the nations will not be able to endure His indignation. 11 Thus you shall say to them: “The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under these heavens.” 12 He has made the earth by His power, He has established the world by His wisdom, And has stretched out the heavens at His discretion. 13 When He utters His voice, There is a multitude of waters in the heavens: “ And He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, He brings the wind out of His treasuries.” 14 Everyone is dull-hearted, without knowledge; Every metalsmith is put to shame by an image;  For his molded image is falsehood,  And there is no breath in them. 15 They are futile, a work of errors; In the time of their punishment they shall perish. 16 The Portion of Jacob is not like them, For He is the Maker of all things,  And Israel is the tribe of His inheritance;  The LORD of hosts is His name.

Do you think you're not religious?  rlh 6/28/05

Do you think you're not religious?  What about Sunday?  Do you think that you must attend church on Sunday?  Sunday only?  In the book of Acts they met daily.  Yes, daily.  It seems as if we have become like the Pharisees to some point in that we believe we MUST go to "synagogue" every Sunday - not only that, but on Sunday ONLY.

I'm not saying that it's bad to come together on Sunday, but what I am saying is that if we are limiting our relationship as a church to one specific day of the week, then we are in a religious position of thought and limiting the accessibility of one another to edify and be encouraged and nourished by one another's fruit and gifts that God gave us for the purpose of building one another up.  Let us consider not only the needs of ourselves, but the needs of the body we serve.  Yes, we are to serve one another.  Jesus said in Matthew 25:40 40And the King will answer and say to them, "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.' and in Galatians 5:14 14For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." and also referred to as the "royal law" in James 2:8-9 8If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well; 9but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors.

Let Us Meditate On These Examples:

Acts 2:42-47  42And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. 46So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

1 Corinthians 14:12 12Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel.

1 Corinthians 14:26 26How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.

1 Corinthians 14:3-4 3But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. 4He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.

Fruit of our Lips
rlh 5/9/05

From the fruit of his lips a man is filled with good things as surely as the work of his hands rewards him. Prov. 12:14 NIV

Does the "fruit" of your lips fill you with good things?  As for me, not always.  This proverb provokes me to speak in excellency rather than lazy speech that takes no thought before it comes forth.  We are told in the word to be swift to hear and slow to speak.

James 1:18-20 18Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures. 19So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; 20for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

It says here that we were brought forth by the word of truth to be the "firstfruits" of God's creation.  God said of what His words created that it was "very good".

Gen 1:31 31Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Can we say that of the fruit of our words?

Let's make every effort to take time today to hear what the counsel of the Holy Spirit is before we speak.  Our words create the atmosphere that we breathe.  Let us "be filled" with good things from the words we speak.

Eph 5:18-21 18And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21submitting to one another in the fear of God.

Jesus said, “Follow me.”

Article by Bettina ©WWWMinistry, posted 9/19/04

Two very simple words that Jesus Christ uttered and yet the impact of obeying such simple instruction is beyond words.  It is a simple phrase which a person’s mind cannot fully comprehend because of all the possible consequences that results from a simple step.  Even with all the recorded testimonies of God’s glories that come with such obedience, it is easy for us to forget the glimpses we have witnessed during the times we followed Him.

Once again, I’m reminded of Jesus’ words, “Follow Me.”

I.                    Who did Jesus call to follow Him?

Matthew 9:9

9 As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.

John 1:43

43 The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, "Follow me."

John 10:27

27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

Can you picture it?  Jesus Christ walking through the town with His disciples following Him.  Add this rap upbeat music to your picture as Jesus Christ is walking and calling His chosen disciples, “Shake This Planet” by Henry Seeley (from Open The Eyes of My Heart CD).

The Holy Spirit’s got me pumpin’

Goin’ with the beat

This place is jumpin’

To the sound

The demons can’t stand it

Cuz’ tonight

We’re gonna shake this planet

We’re gonna shake this planet

And turn it upside down

We’ve come to praise Him

Where His presence can be found

We’re gonna shout His praises

For He’s the One Who reigns

We’re gonna sing it

‘Till the whole world has been saved

Shake this planet

Turn it upside down

With the Spirit

Come and make a sound

Save this generation goin’ down

Fill us ‘cause tonight we’re gonna

Shake this planet

“Yes, fill me with Your Spirit and shake tHis planet!!”  J  I don’t know about you but that music just really got me goin’.  Hahahaha!!  Whoohoo!!!

You might ask, “when did Jesus call me? I don’t remember Him calling my name. When did Jesus tell me, ‘Follow Me.’?”

How about the time when someone gave you a Gospel tract when you were walking through the park?  What did you do with the tract?  How about the time when your co-worker wanted to share the Gospel with you?  Did you listen?  Or, what about the time when you were on the phone with your friend when they prayed for you?   Do these examples trigger any memory of your personal encounters with God before?

Yes, God sees you.  Isaiah 49 reminds us; God formed you “in the womb to be His servant.”  God knows you and just like when He called Nathanael when He saw him under the fig tree (John 1:48), whatever you are doing right now, He sees you and He is calling your name.  J

I remember the day when Jesus found me when I was 13.  Oh, He’s actually been around way before that and He constantly used my grandmother to let me know He’s around.  But one hot day, (I grew up in the Philippines) my older brother came home holding a leaflet in his hand.  I was curious and when he told me that he wanted to speak with me, I was willing to listen.  As it turned out, he went over the “Four Spiritual Laws” with me and I prayed to receive Jesus Christ into my heart.  (Looking back, thank God it was the Gospel because he could have shared anything else with me back then and I probably would have agreed.)

II.                 What comes with following Jesus?

John 12:26

26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.

Luke 9:59

59 He said to another man, "Follow me."

But the man replied, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father."

Matthew 8:22

22 But Jesus told him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead."

Matthew 10:38

38 and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

Matthew 16:24

24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

Matthew 19:21

21 Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

Mark 10:21

21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

Following Jesus is not an easy task.  In fact, it’s full of trials after trials after trials.  So why bother?  Because they’re trials to make you a better person, to become more like Him.  Why would you want to be more like God?   Hmmm…That’s another good topic for next timeOkay, getting back to our topic…

So what comes with following Jesus?

Ø      trials

Ø      joy

Ø      peace that surpasses all understanding

Ø      blessings of God’s love

Ø      full reliance on God for EVERYTHING

Ø      deliverance from strongholds

Ø      victory in His Name!

As you follow Him more, you learn to abandon everything to His will.  You learn to let go and let Him take over every area of your life.  It’s not an overnight process.  It takes a lifetime to get everything right but the key is you are pursuing Him and His grace and His mercy will carry you through in the shadow of His wings.  This includes your decisions about your work and career, your family, your children, and your relationships with others.  Who is the number one priority of your life right now?  If it is anyone else other than God, you need to evaluate and pray for God to show you.  Get in to God’s Word.  Follow Him more.  J

As I look back, I admit I had my times in the desert.  Not once but twice!  The first time around, I was in the desert for nine years.  I became like the man in Luke 9, “Lord, first let me…; first let me….; first let me….”  My list got long that before I knew it, so much wasted time passed.

I’d think I’ve learned my lesson then but I had to go around it again the second time for three more years.  I must have forgotten a route or two.  Unfortunately, the second time was even worse because I dug myself in to a pit so deep that I never thought I’d be able to get out of it.  I didn’t know who else to call for help and God reminded me that He is there.   Because Jesus is so loving that no matter what I’ve done, I believe just like He did in Mark 10:21, He looked at me and He loved me, and He pulled me out of the pit.  He cleaned me up; He wiped away my tears.  He restored me and He reconciled me to Himself.

I learned more that when I follow Him, yes, I can abandon everything so He has full control over every area of my life.  It has been hard to abandon to God.  But as someone has reminded, when we abandon to Him He takes care of those we love and care for Himself.  I can’t tell you how many times this thought has given me comfort and His peace pours down.  As a single person, I care for my family a lot.  I love my mother dearly and there have been times when I wish I was by her side instead of being with people who couldn’t care less by what I do.  But I have made my choice and I am serving the One I am following.  I pray to store more treasure in heaven.

What about you?  Are you still working on getting things straightened out before fully abandoning your life to God?   In case no one has told before, you won’t be able to do it all by yourself.  You need God’s help to carry your burdens.  In fact, He is right there sitting by your side waiting patiently for you to hand over everything to Him so you can rest in His care.

III.               Why does Jesus want us to follow Him?

Matthew 4:19

19 "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."

Yes, it is the “Great Commission” as the Bible has recorded in Matthew 28 for all of us.  Jesus wants us to be “fishers of men.”  He does not ask us to change and transform people so they will become better people.  That’s the Holy Spirit’s job.  Our job is to fish for men and He will do the rest.

I used to think fishing is so boring.  I keep picturing two old men sitting by a pond holding their fishing rods waiting for any fish to bite the bait.  Then I wondered why any one would waste his day sitting and doing nothing.

Fishing for men is about the same.  We just need to keep throwing the bait of the Gospel and we pray for people to be interested to take a bite. When they do, we share the basics to give them a firm foundation and to help them grow up more in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  The Holy Spirit does the rest of the work.  Unlike the fish, when they bite the bait, they bite to their death.  But when people finally stop to listen to His voice through the Gospel, they receive eternal life.   Sadly, some people manage to avoid listening to the Gospel, but just like the fish they would be wading and swimming for a long time but man will get tired and start to drown.

How about you?  Have you heard Him calling your name and what has been your answer?

Ø      If you are already following Him, may God bless your walk with Him more.  J

Ø      If you are ready to receive God’s gift of salvation, hallelujah to the Lamb!  Would you pray this prayer?

Dear Jesus, yes, I am ready to follow You.  Please forgive me for all of my sins.  Thank you, God, for Your Son Jesus Christ, Who died to pay the penalty for my sins.  Please take over my life and take control over every area of my life.  Help me live my life for You alone.  Thank You for your gift of eternal life.  I pray in Jesus’ Name.  Amen.

If you sincerely prayed this prayer, tell others!  Would you also email me and let me know?  I’d be blessed to rejoice with the angels in the heavens for your decision!

Eph 1:3-14

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will- 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace 8 that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. 9 And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment-to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.

11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession-to the praise of his glory.

Eph 1:17-23

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20 which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Psalms 23:6

Surely goodness and love will follow me

all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

These Times are Coming Soon

By Robin Hubbard

The time is coming when we will have to make life and death decisions concerning our survival in everyday life as we know it. This generation will see the turning of peace as we know it to levels of wickedness that will sin against our senses inwhich God has given us for His purposes.

In that, I mean what we see, what we hear, where our feet tread, aromas, and invasions of our boundaries. It is a wicked and sensual generation that we live in. If we have been timid thus far, our awakening will scale off our aversion to the confrontation of the reality of this day we live in and the urgency to fall in line and ready our weapons for war. In that, may we make every effort to draw our ear close to the voice of the Lord and listen with all diligence to what the Spirit is saying to the church in this present day.

Psalm 125:3 The wicked will not rule the godly, for then the godly might be forced to do wrong. NLT

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 3For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. NKJ

Philippians 2:5-8 5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
